The LRA is run by a committee, elected annually at the AGM. All committee members serve in a voluntary capacity.

Chairman – Alex Buxton

Alex Buxton Chairman Loudwater Residents AssociationI have lived in the Watford area for most of my life and moved to Loudwater in 2014. I like to teach karate and am lucky to be able to spend an increasing amount of time with my wife and young sons. We really enjoy living in Loudwater and my boys love going for walks around the estate. Through using social media, initially with Facebook, I would like to try to make Loudwater residents more aware of the activities taking place in the area and make it easier for people to join in.

Treasurer – Pat Eckersall

After living in Central London for more than twenty years, I movedPat Eckersall to Loudwater. Initially attracted by the natural beauty and seclusion of Loudwater, some of its hidden secrets soon revealed themselves to me. In particular, the residents’ initiatives in creating the clubs to which we were warmly welcomed as members meant that I met a large number of fellow Loudwater dwellers (and country members) in a short period of time. I love the sense of community this creates in an otherwise very private place.

We joined the Wine Club shortly after arriving but it took us a year or so to get organised to attend an event; these events are now the first thing in my diary for the fourth Friday of every month. I have been the treasurer of the Wine Club since May 2014; this has been great fun (and Diana was quite correct with her prediction that the wine stocks would be the most challenging aspect). I’ve had a lot of support from the rest of the committee and fellow members in this role and look forward to the same as treasurer of the LRA.

Secretary  – Annabel (Anni) Sweet

Anni Sweet Loudwater Secretary

I grew up in Berkhamsted then moved away when I went to University and eventually moved back to Tring in 2002. We moved to Loudwater in December 2013 from Old Amersham and we love it.

I am married to David and have a step-son James who stays with us on a regular basis. You might see George, our cat, around Loudwater. He is the big fat black one with white paws, a white tummy and a short tale (long story). He is super friendly, but he gets fed well at home, so don’t let him persuade you otherwise!

I run my own HR Consulting business When I’m not working, I spend my time with friends and family and I love my food and wine. Occasionally I try my hand at a bit golf, although only if it is nice weather.

I joined the LRA to get to know more people in Loudwater and help to keep it as lovely as it is.

Planning Secretary – Mike Sindic

Mike Sindic Planning LoudwaterWe moved to Rickmansworth from Potters Bar some 33 years ago, living on Moneyhill Estate for approximately 10 years and then moving to Chorleywood Road where we lived for 20 years. The large house and particularly the one acre garden, were far too big for us once our children left home, so eventually we moved to Loudwater three years ago.

We have two married daughters with two children each, and both families live in Croxley Green. Like most parents these days we are called upon to assist frequently, and babysit one day per week to help with child care (it is exhausting but good fun anyway !).

I refuse to fully retire, but we still have plenty of time to enjoy our varied interests particularly as we are so close to central London and also to some great countryside ideal for walking. Our passion however is travelling both in this country and abroad, and if the question is “Have you been to…”, the answer is either “Yes” or “Not yet” – nothing is excluded !

In these days of pressure to develop which can only get worse, I am passionate about preserving the character of areas such as Loudwater which are liable to change beyond recognition if overdevelopment is not controlled. If the Residents’ Association can exert even a small amount of pressure on the Local Planning Authority, hopefully the area will remain something that our children and grandchildren will inherit to enjoy.

Events Secretary & Book Club Leader – June Gili-Ross

June Gili-RossHaving lived in Chorleywood for seventeen years, my husband Leslie and I have recently moved to Loudwater, where we have been made very welcome. We have three grown up sons and three grandchildren. Both of us are members of Moor Park Golf Club, although Leslie is the golf player; I am merely a social member!

Since I have retired from teaching, I will enjoy helping to renovate the property we have bought, especially now I have some spare time.

We have always admired this area and are happy to be living in such a beautiful spot, amongst such friendly neighbours.

I hope to be able to help organise some events for the community in the future and look forward to meeting more residents.

Environment Secretary – John Thompson

John ThompsonBorn and bred in Northumberland, I moved down south in 1986 and have lived in areas north west of London, eventually moving to Loudwater with my wife Tanya in 2006. We have always lived in conservation areas in St Albans and Hatch End, prior to Loudwater and are passionate about maintaining the beauty and uniqueness of this estate.  When I’m not working in central London, I am a keen glider pilot flying from Dunstable and can often be seen keeping fit on my mountain bike in and around the estate.

Editor, Ol’ Trout – Andrea Marheineke

Andrea MarheinekeI moved to Loudwater in 2015 and quickly fell in love with the neighbourhood. Although I grew up at Cassiobury, I had been away for some years – living overseas and then in London. I’m now enjoying being back on home turf. Loudwater has family ties for me – my uncle and aunt lived here for many years and in more recent times my brother and his family have set up home here too. I particularly enjoy having three small nephews just around the corner.

I work in London marketing professional services, and am passionate about making the most of evening’s in the big smoke. Theatre, concerts, comedy, good restaurants – with great friends – are all favourite pastimes. Living somewhere so peaceful and beautiful but with such easy access to all the capital has to offer is a great blessing.

I am very much looking forward to co-editing the Ol Trout newsletter, working with the committee and getting to know more folk within our community.

Jennifer McDermott – Committee Member

Jennifer McDermottI moved to Loudwater 25 years ago to raise my 2 children in this idyllic spot, away from the hustle and bustle of Central London. Patrick and Helen have now fled the nest. I continue to live at The Walled Garden, with my partner, David Kirkwood, and our 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Voldemort and Rupert. Occasionally, they escape into Loudwater and thank you everyone for bringing them back to me!

Khurram, our gatekeeper, and his wife Hajar and baby Ella, live in my Gardener’s Cottage.

Now I have retired as a media ,constitutional and human rights lawyer, I felt that I would have more time to become involved and help with the LRA. I am particularly interested in developing our health, wellbeing and community activities in whatever way I can. I have also joined our book club which I am enjoying.

I look forward to meeting more residents around the Estate and at our future events.
